The main objective of the project is to enhance the recreational space in the Calderón de la Barca school in Seville. A very inhospitable space for play and education as it is the roof of the building. The engine of the intervention has been to promote the pedagogical ideology of the school, strongly committed to inclusion, the environment and collaborative learning. The project is a prosthesis designed to improve the recreational space of the school from several points of view: energy improvement, inclusive design, improved perception and environmental qualities of the roof, as well as pedagogical improvement. The strategies are as follows: In the first place the thermal, aesthetic and pedagogical improvement of the south façade, with the superposition of a transventilated external skin that offers shade to the existing one and that shelters benches in niches, stands, in short a façade that tames the recreation space. In order to promote an accessible and comprehensible design, a palette of colours has been used, which identify the different functions that take place behind the new façade. In a subsequent phase, the placement of the signage supporting these different colour codes will be undertaken. In this way, the southern façade will become an inhabited wall that favours relationships, offering spaces adapted to the different ages of its students and to the multiple activities that take place in that space. Secondly, mobile awnings have already been placed on the southern perimeter in order to achieve the maximum shaded area, Thirdly, a playful regeneration of it is proposed, with the incorporation of low-cost, recycled material that can be manipulated by them, such as tires, tubes or games painted on the floor. Finally, it is proposed to turn the courtyard into a green space of the school, in connection with the large trees of the plot. The Seville Association for Climate also participates in this project, which together with the Boldina permaculture association, will help in the development of one of these strategies: the Re-naturalisation of the courtyard.
